Are you finding yourself consistently delaying discipline when it comes to your children’s misbehaviors?

Have you been guilty of rewarding their bad actions with treats, or even unintentionally encouraging negative behaviors?
It’s natural to make mistakes as we navigate the world, especially when it comes to raising children.
However, it’s crucial to remember the wise words from the Bible: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
This Bible verse emphasizes the importance of actively disciplining, guiding, and instructing children on the right path.
It doesn’t advocate for overindulgence or neglecting discipline.
Rather, it stresses the significance of intentional training, disciplining, teaching and guidance.
According to the dictionary, training is defined as teaching in a way that makes someone fit, qualified, and proficient in a particular area.
Just like how pilots and soldiers undergo rigorous training to excel in their roles, children also require proper training and guidance to grow into responsible and capable individuals.
I went through training before I was certified and qualified as an early years practitioner and educator in the United Kingdom. It takes training!
Before I became a baby room lead at the nursery here in the United Kingdom, I went through special training, courses, and observations to be able to work with babies specifically. It takes training!
In essence, disciplining your children promptly is essential for them to fulfill their potential and serve their creator.
By instilling values, discipline, and guidance, you equip them with the tools they need to navigate life successfully.

Tips

  • Allow God to take charge. You are the parent, but God is the owner. Oftentimes, God can give you an idea of how to handle issues in your home.
  • Let God direct you to the right source where you can gain knowledge and skills.
  • To discipline your child, make sure that they know the family boundaries and consequences for bad behaviours. Don’t just assume they know everything. My son fixed something wrong and I told him immediately the right way to do it. He immediately said to me, “Mummy, you know I am still learning, I don’t know about that before.”!
  • It’s very important to explain to your children why you are disciplining them accurately. To avoid confusion and lack of clarity.
  • It is very important, couples to be on the same page when it comes to boundaries and consequences. You and your spouse need to agree; if not, there will be disaster.
